Hi Everyone!
Thank you to all of you for signing up at the CAS fair and welcome to the Nations’ Photography Club (2017-2018)! We will be sending out monthly newsletters just like this one for approximately the next 7 months. Before going into further details we also want to inform you that this club is not a commitment set in stone. However the more people participate the more fun it's going to be. Many of you said that you wouldn’t take part in competitions and/or technical classes - and this is fine. Please be aware however, that if if this is the case, you will still be considered part of the club and will therefore receive frequent emails from us. The photography club does count as S & A in the participation form. To have it count as participation you must submit at least 5 pictures to 4 out of the 7 competitions.
As we start the new month of November and the first month that this club is officially commencing, we want to let you know that the first technical class will be taking place in December before the winter break (place, date, and time still to be confirmed). Before then, however, we have November’s competition to get excited about. The theme for this month’s competition is:
THEME OF THE MONTH:
Paths
This is quite a broad topic and you have a scope for creativity. You don't necessarily have to stick with a physical path but can also experiment with figurative ones. Please remember that all entries should be sent to this email - nations.photography@gmail.com. You can send up to 5 pictures and there will be 1 winner, with 4 runner-ups. Keep in mind that you can also send pictures that you have taken in the past. The winning pictures will be showcased in our school’s TV-screens as well as in the Nations’ Voice website (a new-online newspaper run by students) and our Instagram page (cdn.photographyclub) - only with your consent.
Again, thank you very much for signing up and we are looking forward to taking a look at your competition entries!
Geraldine, Davide, Sebastian and Chiara.
TIPS:
If you want to photograph landscapes, you should pay attention to the depth of field. You could achieve a deep depth of field and have everything in focus by closing your aperture (stepping up the f number).
Don't be scared to try different camera angles to give your pictures a unique feel. You could put your camera / phone on the ground or stabilize it on tables, desks, or any other plain surface.
Try to pay attention to the composition of your photograph. Look at your surroundings and see how different elements in your photograph can make an impact what you want to show.
