Hello, everyone!

Thank you so much for your wonderful submissions, we really had trouble choosing the top 5, all the pictures were just amazing! But as hard as it was, we had to make a choice, and so the winners of November’s competition are:

  1. Virginia Pontoriero - 2 winning pictures, as they were both incredible and couldn't decide which one to choose.

  1. Nouf Al Mahri

  1. Maria Lota Lumiste

  1. Danielle Blumer

  1. Osamu Okuma

Congratulations to all! The winning pictures will be displayed in the schools’ screens as well as in the new school newspaper “The Voice”. Also, we will try to post all the pictures you submitted in our Instagram page to showcase them to the whole school (username: cdn.photography). Of course, we won’t publish your pictures if you don’t want us to. Please send us an email if this is the case. For this month’s competition the theme is…

THEME OF THE MONTH:

Contrast

Again, this is quite a broad topic and you have a scope for creativity. You can play with contrasting colours and subjects. You can experiment with black and white and different figures. Please remember that all entries should be sent to this email - ecolint.photography@gmail.com. You can send up to 5 pictures and there will be 1 winner, with 4 runner-ups. Keep in mind that you can also send pictures that you have taken in the past. You will have until the last day of the month (December 31st) to submit your pictures.

Again, thank you very much for participating and we are looking forward to seeing your new competition entries!

Geraldine, Davide, Sebastian and Chiara

TIPS:

  • To create more contrast in your pictures, try and play with the "White Balances" under the manual settings. The "Cloudy" setting will enhance your warm colours and saturate them, giving your pictures higher contrast and sharpness.

  • You can also use the ISO setting to change the amount of light, which can soften or enhance the colours depending on whether the ISO is low or high.

  • If you want to try something new, try and play with Black and White - it will definitely give your pictures higher contrast.

  • Play with your subject - you could use different geometric shapes.
